I am looking for a good source of Ipe. I understand it is used for decking but find no local source. thanks
IMO, the problem is unless you are there to hand pick it its doubtfull you'll get good bow wood.
That advice applies to any lumber wood, including osage.
Selecting the right board is very important, otherwise you may get a good one or a crappy one.
Contact Kenny McKenzie on here. I know he used to have a stock of it for sale, and he knows his bow wood.
Thanks
If you're still looking I have a piece with nice straight grain. I made one bow from it and it was an outstanding shooter. The stuff kills me and I can no longer work with it. You could make at least 2 more, maybe 3 more bows with what I have.
