Title: Macasser ebony ????
Post by: Dmaxshawn on August 11, 2011, 07:10:00 PM
Quick question on Macasser ebony.  I used it in a riser.  Do I need to seal it with CA glue like the oily woods?

Thanks
Shawn

Shawn, I don't know for sure but I used it once as a veneer..I used super glue on limb edges. I did take a scrap piece and sprayed it with spar urethane, I thought it felt slightly tacky the next day so I sealed the limb edges. Kirk L or kennym might know. Good luck.

I sprayed with shellak and it made it look awesome.  And hope to get the finish sprayed on this weekend.  Thanks Robert.

If you use a laquer based finish you will be fine. I would seal it for the urethanes.
