Do you guys use Denatured Alcohol or Acetone to prep lams cut from oily woods such as Bocote or Cocobolo?
You'll get different opinions on this one. Some guys say to do it, some guys say it just brings more oil to the surface. :dunno:
I haven't used any oily woods like bacote and cocobola for lams, but have used both for longbow risers. I did wipe them down good with acetone, had good glue ups, and they've held together so far.
Yep, many opinions!
I brush em with a clean wire brush, blow off with clean air and put the glue to em!
BTW, Thank you sir, I owe ya one!
Kenny nailed it. No chemicals.
I am with Kenny on this one.
Kenny, you're welcome. Had to make some room in the shop anyhow. :D Thanks for the replies guys.
