Title: first bow off new form (pics)
Post by: vth0kie12 on July 18, 2011, 11:13:00 AM
this is my first adult bow off my new form (i liked the looks of kennym bow so i based it off his design). it ended coming out at 42 lbs and 28 inches and shoots a 441 grain arrow around 163 fps, 62 ntn.

its cocc riser with bocote veneers and ascent strip. overall i was pretty pleased with it, but i do have a few things i may change before next time.

hope yall enjoy the pics and i got to thank kennym for all the help and great products.

heres a pic off it unstrung getting a coat of poly ( that i ended up having to strip and redo, lession learned)

full draw pic. i was thinking that i may need to go with alittle more taper (it has a total of .003 taper) to get the tips working more. what do you guys think.

heres are a few additional pics (sorry the bow was hanging upside down)

Very nice!! That is a georgeous riser!  I just built a form with a similar design - maybe a bit more reflex.  I 'll post a pic up on a new thread.

oh no not at all. i agreed with what you said and realized that i could rotate the pics. it take a lot more than that to offend me. i appreciated everything you said.

so do you guys think i should use more taper on  my next bow to soften up the tips

Looks great.  I know a guy who can test it for you if needed.     :goldtooth:

You can always try and use more taper. Heck buid one close to the same specs and see which one you like better, then use the other for a gift, or something. Great looking bow

I would try one with more taper..then one with the new taper and a tip wedge...then one with the wedges and a power lam or longer riser... then with wood that caught my eye..then a youth version...then tweek the form...okay, it never ends.

Very nice bow, great job ! If you increase the taper you will probably need to add tips wedges. Otherwise the string angle might get over 90 degrees, what means that the bow will start to stack.
