Hey Gang - Here's some pics of my latest creation I thought I'd share. This one was for my wife's uncle who has been wanting me to make him a longbow for a while now. He couldn't decide on what kinds of woods he wanted and just told me to make him something pretty. So I decided to work with some woods I haven't tried yet. He really seemed to like it when I gave it to him today and already has a buck scoped out on his trailcam that is destined to meet an arrow from this bow come October.
It's got a bacote riser, amber actionboo core, and some really nice bubinga lams under clear glass. The tips are bactote and black linen phenolic. It's 68" and 57# @ 28".
Once again, I have to give some credit to kennym for the awesome lams

That is a beautiful bow, John! I would not doubt he would be thrilled with it! Truly a beauty.
Stan
looks great! nice job
Wow-you nailed that one!! Awesome.
Dang John, that is sweet!! NICE JOB ! !
Hope he smokes that buck with it!
:archer2:
Dag gone that's a sweet looking bow. Next time you want to just give em away I will send you my addy.lol
Thanks for the compliments guys.
It's always neat to work with new woods, but I have to admit, after I glued it up and started rough shaping, I was kind of wondering about the bacote and buginga together. Both were beautiful woods, but together it was almost too much fancy grain. Once I put a coat of finish on the bacote, it darkened up quite a bit which made for a better match with the buginga.
After Uncle Howie shot a few into that target at close range I challenged him to hit a stump in the yard about about 25 yards away. Be danged - he hit it the first shot. Knowin' him, he probably will arrow that nice buck on the first morning of the season this year.
Again, thanks for the compliments.
That is one pretty bow, great job. Bacote is hard to beat for beauty.
Beautiful, John!! That's a really pretty one.
beautiful colors, dont get any better then that.
Very Nice John!
Nice job!
Very pretty indeed! I love figured wood. I might have to learn to make a glass bow just so I can use some of that pretty grain.
Looks great John, every one you make gets better than the last! You'll be quitting the day job before long.
Good one Rob.
I'd love to quit my day job and make bows for a living, but my kids would starve.
Seriously though, thanks for the compliments. With each one, I learn a few more tricks of the trade, it gets easier, and I get better. I'm sure a lot of the bowyers here know what I mean.
