It took a while but here they are. One is a sinew backed osage with snake skins the other is hickory with Ipe belly laminations. The full draw photos were taken before the bows were finished, the tiller didn't change so I couldn't see any reason to take new photos. Both bows were finished with Tru-oil.

Very nice but the shelf is on the wrong side of both.
Wow Greg! You never disappoint with your bows, they both look awesome!
Tiller looks perfect.
You got a couple good looking bows there.
Good looking bows Greg!
Nice!
man, i love the hickory/ipe.
sharp!!!
A couple of goodlookers for sure, outstanding finish. Bue--.
Very nice.
Both of those turned out really nice Greg. Skins look awesome. So which one you huntin with this year?
Both of those bows are slick. The skins really pop out on the osage.
beautiful job, very nice,.. love the osage bow. you used tru oil and no shellac. or other finish
Dang, Greg, you can build any of em!!
I got a chance to see and shoot both of those bows, they shoot just as good as they look.
That Ipe bellied Hickory is AMAZING! I'd love to see a build along on how you mate the ipe to the belly. Gorgeous work Greg!
Great looking bows Greg!!!!
Thanks guys,
I forgot to mention that both of these bows were salvage efforts. The osage was an early bow(#4) that was whip tillered and shot very slow. I flipped the tips and sinewed it to fix the tiller.
I ran out of poundage with the hickory bow before the tiller was right so I sanded about 3/16" off the belly and glued on Ipe lams.
Both bows shoot the same spine arrows so I will end up hunting with both of them. I must give credit where it is due, I wouldn't have either of these bows without Mark. He gave me the hickory stave and the Ipe for the belly lams, and provided the inspiration and knowledge to sinew the osage.
swtchbckshtr, I only used Tru-oil. I rubbed on 3 heavy coats to seal and fill the grain, then sanded it smooth with 320 grit. After 2 more light coats I sanded it with 1000 grit wet/dry then applied the last coat. One thing I would like to share with everyone is that I used a lint free towel to apply the finish. You can get them at automotive paint supply stores or industrial supplies. The finish goes on very smooth and actually looks like it was sprayed on.
very nice!
Great looking bows!
great looking bows greg!
Greg, your bows never disappoint, both of these are super, but Lumpy is still my favorite. Nice work.
Those are some really beautiful bows. Great job! Thanks for sharing. :)
Sweet! Both are great, but I especially like the snake skinned osage.
Great lookin' bows, Greg.
What do you mean wrong-handed, Shawn? LOL
Those are perfect.
Stan
beautiful bows what finish did you use on them?
Great bows, really like the hickory/ipe bow.
Thanks for posting them, those are sweet.
Thanks for the finish tips too!
Wish I could knew how to type the sound of a whistle.... Absolutly beautiful bows!!!!! great job
i like your work. the finish looks fantastic. rv
I love them. I want to do a belly lam and a backing for my first failed bow. It was a hickory and it failed in a way the back came off. I was think osage belly and back or even sinew back. You have inspired me to at least give her a try.
Those are Great Lookers!! Can I ask just How Many Coats of Tru Oil is on the Back to get that Awsome Warm Shine??  Great Job!! :archer:
Thanks guys,
Shakes, I rubbed on enough finish to fill the grain, then wet sanded with 1000 grit. After that I rubbed on the final coat and called it good. There's probably 8 coats total.
I got home last night from a hunting trip. The osage/sinew claimed all the ruffed grouse we could eat.

Thats some pretty good shootin Greg. Never had grouse, do they taste as good as quail?
I've never tried quail. To me ruffed grouse tastes like cornish game hens, very mild and delicate. Blue grouse are a different matter. They are a very strong flavored dark meat bird, kind of like eating a duck. I wont shoot blue grouse unless they are young ones.
wow, the rest is on the right side,.. lefty here also. awesome bows, great work indeed..
