Here's what Ken75 has inspired me to try... father's day is coming up soon and I know my father has been itching to get a bow that he could shoot 45-50#. I have been tinkering in the garage as the business of summer has come and this is where I am so far.
46# @ 22.5" so far shooting for 45-50# @ 28" It's 60" tip to tip and fairly close maybe 59" ntn braced @ 6.5". I trapped the back to help with the set (thanks for the insight Ken). Enjoy and feel free to critique everything but my bow string :readit:

Forgot to mention it's hickory with walnut tips and handle.
That is going to be some bow it looks like. Once I get a bow or dozen under my belt I would like to try one of these.
Your dad is going to love it. Cant waite to see more of it.
That looks good Goose. How bout a pic on the tiller stick. Your dad will like that one, those molles are sweet shooters. I just finished an osage character bow I'm giving to my dad for fathers day.
Yep it's a molle. Ought to be sweet shooter Goose
Nice Goose!
Kris you're up too early this morning!
So it was a molle... now it may be firewood. Thoughts?

That stinks Goose. Thats a pretty long, deep splinter. Did it have some grain runoff in that spot?
Makes me think trapping the back was a no-no. It may have been over stressed as a result? Who knows for sure. Sinew the back and continue on Goose!
what was the brace height? looks high
just a thought can tou reglue it and string wrap it then sinew the back or is that a big no no just a thought
Brace height was about 6" and it wasn't a big deal to start a new one for my dad. Got the board for $6 so not a huge loss.
