Finishing up a R/D Hickory backed Ipe bow. Due to some issues with tillering, the bow will finish about 41 lbs. I would like to be at least 5 lbs heavier. Any suggestions. It is 64" NTN. I'm afraid to make it shorter due to my 28" draw length.
Your R/D design will allow for a longer draw through a shorter bow. I would cut it down myself.........Art
I've got a 28" draw and shoot a 60" BBO, I'd move the string nocks in 1/2" or 3/4" from each tip and see where that gets ya. You can always go a little more if you need to. Just make a couple of temporary string grooves to make the bow effectively shorter, but don't cut anything off yet. You can always go back to the same nocks if it doesn't work out.
1" off each end will get you the weight increase you want. Cut 1 1/2" off if you want more. Like the guys said above, that combo will take it easily.
