Title: What is the best kind of paint?
Post by: rush1 on June 06, 2011, 01:11:00 AM
My wife wants to paint the riser on my long bow.  Its a Bob Lee take down but the original finish is flawed.  I'd like to know what kind of paint is the best to use.  She wants to hand paint it, so, I'm looking for a paint other than spray paint. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When you say she wants to hand paint it I assume she's going to do some kind of artwork on the riser. I suggest acrylic craft paints from a craft store. They're available in a huge range of colors, including metallics. They're tough, inexpensive, and easy to work with. Once the art is dry they can be topcoated with a clear protective coat like polyurethane.
Post pictures when she's done!

Thats exactly what I needed to know.  I just wasnt sure if the acrylic paint would work.  I told her she could paint it however she wants as long as it has a good break up. So there's no telling what I will wind up with.  I'll post some pictures whens its done.  Thanks a lot!
