Here are a few pics of portions of my Primitive Archer Trade Bow. If I showed the whole bow it might give it away to the recipient. This is a locust Eastern Woodland(Cherokee) style bow and I toasted the belly and finished with hand rubbed bear grease. I shot her quite a bit today and am please with how she shoots. She'll be going out to her new owner soon.

Real nice Pat!
Thats a nice lookin bow Pat. Looks like you're havin pretty good luck with that locust.
Nice bow Pat! Your last few posted bows inspired me to build the way I have been lately...thank you!
Pat, real nice! How does the locust take to toasting?
Frank, locust toasts well. I haven't used enough locust lately for comparison but neither of the last 2 have fretted on me.
Thanks guys. I love doing these trades.
You're a brave man, Pearlie! d;^)
Not as much fun or character as the bow I made for you Joe but I love this simple Eastern Woodland design.
That lab in the picture has a bubble over his head saying, "That looks like something fun to chew on". Oh, and, where are the full draw pics?
Oh, that's right, it's a tease.
It's a beauty as always. I'm working on a "mollie" and I'm already missing the simpler designs.
Nice looking bow Pat. Did you remember to save my address? :goldtooth:
Thanks Bona and Hillbilly. These simple bows will surprise you at how well they shoot. I'm taking this one to Hickory this weekend for the NC state trad shoot to get a few more arrows through her.
Bona, I keep coming back to these simple bows after trying other styles. My goal as a bowyer is to get as simple as possible but still be effective for hunting.
Looking good Pat, can't wait to see the finished pics.
That lab just spotted a squirrel from under the edge of the deck, he's on point and getting ready to bail off after it. :biglaugh:
I love labs, had em all my life.
Miss Lucy Brown is a very cool dog. She'd go after a squirrel before trying to get to the bear grease on my bow. I've always had labs too and the Choc labs are my favorite. They are way smarter than me!!! d;^)
