I harvested a bunch of Hackberry a couple weeks ago and I've got staves galore if anybody wants to give it a try. A full ad with pricing will be on my Sponsor classified ad page.

Here's a pic of and example of some el primo staves. Not all look like this, but most are very straight and some have knots. If you want board straight I got it, if you want character I got that too.

Anybody know if hackberry will hold up to sinew backing? Art
Funny you should ask Art. I wondered the same. After working it the last few weeks my GUESS would be no. I toasted my belly a few days ago and Im just waiting for it to stabilize so I can finish tillering. Nice stuff to play with, very nice.
You hear folks talk about how nice it works with steam and all, that kinda reminds me our flowering white dogwood. I know that sinew and dogwood is a great combination........Art
To me it feels too delicate to handle the added compression? Giive it a try and let me know Artsy!
That's a great idea Pearly, just send me some wood and I'll get started :goldtooth: Art
I will send you the nicest Hackberry stave I have. If it works out you send me the bow and I will send you another stave for yourself? Gotta deal pal?
You sure air a trusting fellow! That deal is going to work out great for at least one of us.
You cant blame me for wanting an Art B bow!!! If you dont want to do it I bet my buddy Pat B will do it for me! ;)
Yep, I'd recommend Pat B myself, or even better, ol' RoyBoy!
Ol' Roy Boy wouldnt know what to do with a bow not made from dimensional lumber!
That's 'bout to change Pearly. Going to teach him everything I know 'bout making selfbows. Shouldn't take 5 minutes or so to learn him what I know :readit: Art
Ok guys, what's the deal?
Y'all gonna buy somethin' or what? :D
Art, I may have just the deal for ya!
PM headed your way.
If I didnt have a load of Mongolian Tulip already I would buy a chunk SEMO.
Good on you Art! I have been trying to convince him to change direction for months, the ol buzzard wouldnt listen to me!
Roybert is too hard headed to listen to either one of ya, he's watching..........you can count on that. You just ain't pissed him off enough to respond yet. LOL
lol. i must have missed something . ya'll been pickin on roy fer a good minute now.
i'd be interested semo , but im still workin on my trade bow. im dyin to get m hands on some hackberry...
I been fishen for big bass:)
Art, I just built a sinew backed mollie out hackberry and it turned out real sweet. I met Larry Surtees at the TN Classic and he owns it now. Maybe I will build another one.
Takes heat real well too. I like it and have a slew of it and will use it again.
Just let me know Hova I've got plenty to spare. I look forward to making some bows out of this myself, that's why I cut it in the first place. As always though, I tend to get the big eye and cut too much.
lol i hear ya. as soon as funds allow , i will shoot you a pm. if i dont send anything in 6 mos , pm me and remind me. i forget like dory...
hi.im hov...
