Title: I got Hackberry if anybody is interested.
Post by: SEMO_HUNTER on May 20, 2011, 01:06:00 PM
I harvested a bunch of Hackberry a couple weeks ago and I've got staves galore if anybody wants to give it a try. A full ad with pricing will be on my Sponsor classified ad page.

Here's a pic of and example of some el primo staves. Not all look like this, but most are very straight and some have knots. If you want board straight I got it, if you want character I got that too.

Funny you should ask Art. I wondered the same. After working it the last few weeks my GUESS would be no. I toasted my belly a few days ago and Im just waiting for it to stabilize so I can finish tillering. Nice stuff to play with, very nice.

You hear folks talk about how nice it works with steam and all, that kinda reminds me our flowering white dogwood. I know that sinew and  dogwood is a great combination........Art

Art, I just built a sinew backed mollie out hackberry and it turned out real sweet. I met Larry Surtees at the TN Classic and he owns it now. Maybe I will build another one.

Takes heat real well too. I like it and have a slew of it and will use it again.

Just let me know Hova I've got plenty to spare. I look forward to making some bows out of this myself, that's why I cut it in the first place. As always though, I tend to get the big eye and cut too much.
