Has someone ever tried to have a higher limb at the tip (more than only a tip wedge) and do the edges of the limb more in a curve than a straight line. Like the "overscaled" sketch at the top ?
The goal for this design is to have the same mass, but the tip acts more like a lever.
It's seen all the time in selfbows (look up a few posts for "Holmegaard" or "Mollegabet" bows).
I remember seeing a few glass lam bows made that way, but can't seem to find any posts on them.
Oh, and if done right the outer limbs have less mass :) 2x as wide is 2x as stiff; 2x as thick is 8x as stiff.
You can have more mass and still have the tip act as a lever and be a faster bow. The inner limb needs to be wider on your drawing so it doesn't take as much set. If you have the inner portion working as it is it'll take more set than the bow above. The Mantra: Make inner limbs wide or long enough for virtually no set. Make midlimbs wide enough for little set. Make outer-limbs and tips narrow enough for lowest possible mass. Tim Baker-TBBV4
