Looks nice Stone.
Thanks Roy I am still doing the finish up stuff but I couldn't control myself just had to put it out there.
What type glue did you use on the skins, and how did you remove the scales, with tape?
I used elmers wood glue and yes I used tape the skins were pretty much scaled though Mike Yance sent me an awesome set. I soaked them for a while and then went to town on it
Looks great
The whole bow looks awesome and the skins really add a nice finishing touch.
I can't wait for it to warm up here so snake season will start. I've got a few bows that could use some skins!
Mike Yancy supplied me with these he has great prices on the skins Thanks very much
Nice job Lester, I love snake skins!! Those look awsome.
I'm in the process of putting some skins on my BBO bow right now. I'm also using Elmer's wood glue.
It was a nice and easy task I thought it would be a pain in the butt. Thanks everyone for your comments
Stone, I like the way you finished the skins at the tips, adds a real professional look to an already great looking bow.....Dan
Thanks Dan that means a lot. It was my first attempt with snake skins I am very impressed with how it came out
Did you use the Eric Krewson Skin Along Thread?
That's the one I'm going by and it's very good for a first time snake skinner like me. He said you could skip the super glue step because it's not necessary, which makes me happy cause I hate working with super glue. I have rarely had a project turn out better than just ok when super glue was involved.
This really wasn't all that difficult for me, I had my mind made up that it was going to be extremely difficult and prepared myself for the worst possible outcome. I must say that I'm rather pleased with the results so far and on my own personal difficulty level from 1-10 I would only rate it a 6 for me. I guess I was nervous over the unknown?
I like how you ended the ends of the skins on the riser area and the tip area, looks very classy.
No I used the method out of the bowyers bible on snakeskin backing. I will check it out though
Good job, StoneAK. Skins look awesome on a stick.
Stan
That is one pretty bow! I really like how you V cut the skins at the handle and the tips!
Thanks Twitchstick I just wanted to do something a little different.
