Title: tru-oil over spar urethane
Post by: Renacs on April 09, 2011, 10:19:00 AM
I've done a few bows with spar urethane lately and the only downside seems to be the shelflife and brightness, which i like on some bows. My question is can i apply tru-oil over top of it.  And another question.  I have a bow that i have finished with tru-oil and then apllied wax over it.(it was the wax that came with the tru-oil kit.)  can i add more true oil over the waxed area. or do i need to strip it?

I spray satin poly over Tru-Oil to cut the shine so I know they are compatable. I've never used Tru-Oil wax but you should be able to remove the wax with alcohol. Do a test first to be sure.

My osage bows get 3 coats of Tru Oil. It seals the pores nicely. Then over that 3 coats of spar. You can buy different types. I use satin. Jawge
