Title: Drywall tape backing on selfbow?
Post by: NJWoodsman on April 02, 2011, 06:33:00 PM
I've tried drywall tape on a red oak board bow, it's ugly but works great. I'm roughing out a hickory selfbow from a stave and looking at that leftover roll. Has anyone tried it, besides on a board bow? I'm wondering if it would lay flat or otherwise be difficult to apply.

If you have a hickory selfbow with a good back there is no need to add another backing much less something ugly.

I agree with the others its just plain ugly. If you wanna back it and stay cheap use a paper backing...like a brown grocery bag type paper.

Good luck

Even paper dry wall tape will work fine and can be atractive with a little thought...but like I said before with hickory, a backing is rarely needed!
