Maple and Purple heart it was a beauty and shot like a dream. OOOOHHHH WWWWHHHYYYYY
I have had purpleheart that did the same and purple heart that didn't. If you get the purple heart too heavy it will not handle compression . Now Osage or Yew . Thats the ticket.
God bless and keep right on building, Steve
sorry for your lose. It looked purdy though.
damn that sucks
I feel your pain for sure, been there done that.
Thank you all but I will make another
Ohhh the humanity!!! :bigsmyl:
Better luck with the next one
It hurts to loose one a that stage.
Sorry about your loss there Stone. I'll throw this out there though, if you let your purpleheart oxidize? (if that's the right term for letting it just dry out after cutting or shaping or sanding) like let's say for about a week, it will get more purple. Like this stuff:

Good luck on the next one!
Ouch...at least it was the bottom limb.
The longer the purple heart ages even with finish it will turn to a bright purple we use alot of it in inlays on rifle stocks. Thanks for all the kind words
