Title: Shelf placement
Post by: Fancy Firewood on March 28, 2011, 08:58:00 PM
I need a little input on shelf placement.  I am making a bamboo backed black locust bow.  Where is the best placement of the arrow shelf in relation to the center line.  Bow will be 68 inches (until I break it then it will be 4 17inch bows plus some splinters).  The riser/handle is a glued up handle which fades 2 inches past the limb taper.  Thanks and    maybe I won't break this one.

Check out this recent post on this very question. Lots of good answers here.

I like to keep mine in a box at the back of the shop, to be taken out only if someone absolutely insists on ruining a traditional bow by putton one on.  Or, to paraphrase a famous Mexican bandit, "We don' need no stinking shelfses!"

Seriously, I had to put one on a bow today and I put it 1 1/4" up.
