I bought some nice Honduran Rosewood veneer last year that also has small pinhead holes thru it....I know smooth on will fill these small holes but not sure how they will look under clear glass? How big are your worm holes??

make some sawdust and put a little drop of super glue in the hole and fill it with sawdust. voila, hole is gone./ Thats a pretty big worm hole but it would be worth a try,. if its on an end you might splice another type of veneer in and use most of your lams.

God bless, Steve
