Title: LVL For Forms
Post by: tenbrook on March 13, 2011, 04:04:00 PM
I am getting ready to build a new R/D form and wanted to try and use LVL.

The only problem is that I want my form to be 1.5" wide and the only width I can find LVL in is 1.75".

Does LVL come in 1.5" thickness and if yes where are you finding it?

If it does not come 1.5" what are my other options?

Thanks

Tenbrook

You can get 1.5" LVL but usually have to go to a lumber yard to get it.  All the LVL that I have seen in a box store has all been 1.75" as well.

I always called them lam beams. Thanks.  I got some from a lumber company in town. They had some stored in a shed and one end got water on it so they could not be used for structural work. They gave me a few of them. I made my earlier forms with them.
