I asked John for a straight osage stave/blank with some natural reflex. What I got was EXACTLY what I had in mind. It is a perfect specimen just as John described to me. Keep him in mind when your shopping around, you cant beat the prices with a hickory stick! He told me it will make a great bow and I have to believe him. Hopefully I will a pic or two soon enough. Thanks John! :clapper:
Yeah it was a pretty nice looking stave! Considering that I have no experience, lol!
John will take care of you and he's a pretty good ol' boy to boot. You ain't gonna find'em much better.
Stiks
Look at that, two members of the Hedgerow Selfbows Pro Staff on the same thread :)
Way too kind of you all really. My favorite thing about making bows is finding them in a tree I cut. I found one yesterday that is super cool. It's got a natural gullwing shape that I enhanced a touch with the heatgun on one of the limbs.
Thanks Chris and Kris!
John
I too got an awesome stave from John.
I have yet to get to work, gonna take my time and get it just right.
I hope the next one I order up is every bit as good.......wink-wink John!
Soooo... how does one - gulp - go about - cough - getting some - ahem - Osage from John?
Well that wasn't too hard now was it - cough, wheeze -
:help:
Wow, I guess Christmas can come most any time of the year. Gee Santa all I want for Christmas is a long piece of osage.
Just ask him Jeff! He will get you a nice chunk if you say please.
He's been a real gentleman to work with in my limited experience.
I second and third all that, I have a great one in the works that started with John.
