Hi, have a question about making a 2 pc out of a 1pc. I have a Martin Savanna at 60#. I'm thinking about sending it in for a weight reduction (Kinda like having a breast reduction for a bow) it's getting a bit heavy.My question is I would like to have a 2pc. Would it be feasible to cut the riser and make a two pc. What would I need for hardware. I have the tools to do it but not sure what I would need to do the conection and to retune it. Or if I would even have to. Thks Jim G
I just converted a long bow to a 2-piece using a Bow Bolt and it turned our great. Bow Bolts are expensive at $95, but they work great. If you have any questions contact warren archery and talk to Craig the owner. He is very helpful.
i wouldn't do that to your bow . keep it and keep shooting it. what i would do is one of 2 ways, buy a pair of osage billets and a 2 piece bow sleeve, and make my own 2 peice self bow. or do all the research and go through the expence of building forms and buying tools to sand and form glass bows.either way you have a learning curve to go through. it took me over a yr to build my first bow. it is a 2 piece self bow. i also had alot of help and friendly advice here. . do some research. there are some builds here that would give you an idea of what you are getting into. no discouragement intended. i would leave your martin savanna as is and start something new , make it yourself or if you dont have the tools and resources to make your own , have someone make it for you. just my thoughts. ruddy
There are several differnt systems to chose from Jim. Bow bolt is a good one. The connection hinge, steel sleeve ,jacknife hinge or a fiberglass/carbon sleeve are other options.
No re tuning is required.

I think the simplist retrofit may be the connection hinge. I don't have pics but you install the hinge then cut the bow in half.

With the bow bolt is you follow the instructions and take your time, it will turn out great.
Hello. Good info,Does the bow bolt install into a drilled hole and then get epoxied into place. Sort of drilling two hole as close as possible then applying epoxy, inserting the bolt assembly and taping the bow and aligning to original position?? Thenwait for it to cure. JG

Craig is a great guy to deal with.The bolt is a slick set up. He sends complete,detailed instructions with the bolt and will answer any other questions you have.

Hi, Been doing a search and came up with the Bevel Lok. Looks like it might be a little more installation friendly. Anyone familiar with this system? Thanks Jim G
