Ok, gonna build another. Not doing the buildalong this time but I'll take some pics as it progresses. This will be another new pattern. It's going to be a 58" 55#@29" Takedown recurve. It will have Bocote and Wenge riser and Bocote Limbs.
I'm getting my Lams from KennyM, great guy to deal with and he has some excellent products.
I'll try and get a pic up tonight.
Sounds great, can't wait to see it.
Here is the first pic. I will be stalled here for a while until some parts come in the mail. The wood colors look pretty good.

Nice!
Good combo!
That's gonna be a good looking bow.
Yup, I'll be watching this one. Thats a nice piece of bocote.
I enjoyed your last one, I am subscribing to this one...
I am wanting to learn how to build a lam bow and would like to see some more pics of your limb form... if you wouldn't mind???
Thanks and Thanks for your service!!!
You have hands of a surgeon,to cut free hand, and shape the risers the way you do.:thumb up:
Sorry, didnt do the build along on this one, I'm just posting some random pics. I'll do the whole thing on the next one.
I was gone all weekend, but I'll get a new pic up tonight.
Here is a pic after the glue up

That's all for now.
Damn nice riser savage. Can never go wrong with bocote it seems.
this looks damn good! i love that bocote/wenge stuff. am i right, is it bingham pattern?
Greets
Herm
Very sharp riser Dude.
Thanks.
Hermann, nope not Binghams design. I designed the shape of the riser and the pattern of the laminated pieces myself.
I love working with the Bocote, its very forgiving. The Wenge is a different story. It seems very hard, difficult to sand and flakes or chips easy. That's just my observation.
I'll try finish up the shaping tonight and get a rough sanding done on it.
Looks great! Thanks for sharing with us. I noticed you changed your status on Afghanastan (sp?). Are you staying close to home now? Thanks for your service.

Well rumor had it we were going at the end of this year and for the last two deployments the rumors have always been true. After all the meetings I attended this weekend, it looks like it may be 2013. That really made my day. I'm sure the kids will be happy. Although the wife is probably ready for me to leave again. At least I'll have some time to build more bows! hahaha
Limb laminations came in today. These are going to look great!

A special thanks to KennyM for some beautiful lams!!!
VERY COOL.....
Those veneers are gonna look awesome under clear glass. Sweet riser too.
Thanks. I agree, Kenny really hooked me up! Feel like cancelling my trip this weekend so I can stay home and get it done.
A couple more days of working on the finish and I'll take some test shots.

that looks sweet as heck
Dang Tim, you hit the mark with that one!
Thanks Kenny, and thanks for the sweet lams. I have a feeling I will be getting some more of those soon. The weight came in perfect too at 55#@29". Can't wait to shoot it.
Tim, You done Good...Real Good!
Thanks Walt!
i need some fresh undies...thats just amazing...
Thanks Hova, we have lots of diapers on this end. Hahaha
Thanks. Still working on the finish, got a couple little spots to fix.

Wow!!!! Nice job.
Very nice! I served a combined 10 years of service in Active Army went to Congo '97, Kosovo '99 I just got out of the service last July knees and shoulder got blown out they can't seem to get them fixed up. Thank you for your time served and spent away. I know my Wife and kids sure appreciate me being home now good luck and God Bless.
Thank you as well StoneAK. I know what you mean about the knees. I've had 4 knee surgeries already. Infantry is definately a young mans game. I recently switched to something a little easier on us older guys. Hahaha
I have had 4 knee surgeries to many airborne ops. The only option I have left for my left knee is replacement but I am only in my 30's so they don't want to replace until I am 50. I have had to have my shin removed and repositioned fused and screwed into place. Its a long story but I wouldn't change it for anything.I had 6 years in the infantry good ole 11B. Then I went into the 63 series. Good luck I just had some friends come back from camp Leatherneck. Your family deserves the congrats as well.
Ouch! Mine werent that bad. I agree, the families are hit pretty hard too. My wife was at home with a new baby on each deployment, she couldnt catch a break.
You do amazing work Tim, that bow is absolutely gorgeous! Nice job! :clapper:
Thanks Semo. I had a custom Astroflight string made by a guy named Robert Blake. I really like it. The Crown serving is great too. That's probably all I'm gonna use from now on.
Nice work!! That is one fine looking bow.
WOW.......that's about all I can say, what a beauty....Wow, oh I already said that didn't I. :bigsmyl:
Savage, That bow is fantastic, I think what really surprised me is your first post was 3/2 and you were shooting like 3/19. Guess you don't have a tv. LOL Really great. JG
Great looking bow. I really like your wood combo.
Bless your hands and thank you for your service.
Please tell me that's your 304th 3 piece.
Please.
Unreal gorgeous and brilliant material matching. I'd love to shoot that thing for sure. Enjoy!
Beautiful bow, savage.
Stan
