Title: Assuming I know nothing about glass bows!
Post by: Don Armstrong on February 23, 2011, 07:23:00 PM
What would be the best vidio, book or what ever to learn about making glass bows. I have made about 20 self bows and now want to make some glass bows. I understand how to make the form, heat box but know nothing about how to stack the lams to hit weight. I worked 3 years as a machinist so am fairly good with mics and dial calipers. I have a 14" band saw, spindle sander, small harbor freight belt and disc sander, table saw, rasps and files. What other tools can I NOT do without for glass bows. I am going to order all material from Kenny. Thanks, Don

Sounds like you are ahead of most in the tool department...

There is plenty of build alongs here to learn from.. that is how I did.  I did get the blueprints from Binghams..  Stack thickness can also be found at binghams website.

you tube has some videos as well.

If you're thinking longbows (the old fashioned straight kind) this might be some help:

www.dickwightman.com (http://www.dickwightman.com)     click on "Archery Activities"

There are two complete buildalongs plus, in the Gallery, a bunch of my bows with the layup for each one detailed.
