Hey, I'm thinking about possibly refinishing my old fishing bow and had a few questions. I would like to make my grip smaller and more comfortable for my hands, and was wondering if you can go through the glass around the back of the riser. The glass is a flat strip along the back and I would like to either round it off, or cut it out completely. Will this affect the bow structurally? Are there any other possible issues that could come from this?
Thanks.
Rather than remove or round the glass try adding wood and rounding that off instead, even some leather built up would be good.
Good idea, thanks! I never thought of that.
If you glue a 1/4 thick piece of wood on the front you can take some off the throat in the back to fit your mitt better. You cant hardly hurt a glass bow if you leave the throat close to the same size it is.
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
Whoa, triple post. Whoops.
Could you post a pic so we can see what your working with? Especially the handle area in question.
Yep, hold on just a sec...
Here's some pics of the riser...
