Hey guys. I'm in an extremely slow period at work and I have got cabin fever BAD!!! I was kicking around the idea of making a take-down recurve but after thinking it over I think I'm going to take another stab at a board bow. My question to you fellas is can you make a pyramid style bow from a board? I love the look of those wide limbs with the narrow handle. I have a St. Charles hardwood store by my house and they have a wide selection of boards. In the past I made 1 out of hickory but this time I thought I would use Osage. Should I back this style bow and if so with what? Thanks for any help with all these questions. TRW
There have been many made from boards. I haven't found any Osage at St. Charles Hardwoods yet. If you find some I'd like to know for my next trip.
If you do find Osage you might not need to be quite as wide as say oak or a white wood board.
Backing would depend on the grain run out.

Thanks, Ron. I'm a total newbie at this but am really interested in getting into building. Like I said, I love the look of the wide limbs so if I can't locate an osage board I'll try and find a good oak or hickory one.
I'm also a member of the UBM and plan on joining Compton soon. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the Festival in Jeff City due to illness. Did you make it? My brother and several of my friends said it was a good time.
read the topic "so you wanna build a bow" buildalong. right now you will find it on page 3. every thing you would want or need to know is there for you.
