Being new to this bowyer thing, I'm learning, and my experience is little. Wanting to make a 2 piece long bow out out my firt laminated glass bow. What is the easiest way? Thanks!
Well, the quickest way is to draw it too far, but the results ain't that pretty.
Sorry...I couldn't resist. :knothead:
Somebody with a serious answer will be along shortly :)
i was gonna come in and say that...
a simple way is to miter cut it , and make a sleeve. google "rawhide takedown" , theres also a fiberglass one recently on the bench...

the easiest way is to use a bow sleeve, even for a glass backed bow. you can purchase a bow sleeve through 3 rivers archery, and pine hollow longbows. both are sponsors here. ruddy
If the bow is already made, there is no easy way.
If your laying up a new one, any of the popular methods work well.

miter cut , scarf joint , rawhide or fiberglass cover. a nice one was just recently on the bench. make the bow , cut it , go to town...

I have done several using the Connexion hinge and find it quite straight forward, at least on my straight longbows. I have a "hinge along" on my web site:
www.dickwightman.com (http://www.dickwightman.com)
Click on "Archery Activity" and scroll down to the Connexion hinge links.
I would have some reservations on bows with curved riser surfaces or very heavy bows, but for longbows, I love it.
I used a bow bolt and it turned out great.
