I finally bought some digital scales last weekend. I was absolutely loving them to pieces when all at once they EXPLODED into a million pieces in my shop. I had an HBH drawn and tied off to 58# @ 29" when it happened. I had just finished using my Gizmo and stepped away, thank GOD. Im very dissapointed with these scales. At a #100 rating they should easily handle 58#. The made in China sticker shown bright after that. Just a word of caution. The bow turned out to be a real winner, I will post pics tonite.
Yeah I had that happen to me as well while I had a wheelie on a draw board. Its wasn't pretty. IMO you really have to research and get a high quality scale...like you said made in china. Coffey scales seem nice, I've never had an issue with them. Just not sure of the price of them.
After using digital I will never use spring scales again, there is no comparison to me. I will just have to buy better digi's.
walmart 7.50$ scale still going strong not blown up yet!
happy to hear youre ok , and it didnt blow the bow up. just be careful , that may have been similar to a dry fire.

It was a dry fire alright, hickory on hickory is one tough bow to hurt though.
was it glass?
Nope, all hickory wood. Lancasters sold me the scales and had no problem exchanging them without a receipt. I bought them at the show in Kalamazoo saturday.
what blew apart on them , just out of curiosity?
any pics of the pieces?

The actual measuring mechanism is intact. Its the plastic housing that holds it all together that gave way. I have no pics of the scales, just the bow they tried to ruin for me.
I just bouht one of those cheapos your talking about, I guess I better tether it with a lanyard :saywhat:
The good news is Lancaster is sending me a new one, no questions asked. They dont even want the old one back. Thats good service. Maybe I just got a bad one? The rep I spoke with said they sell thousands of them and this is the first call he has had on them.
