Title: A couple of strings
Post by: Goose Gossett on February 03, 2011, 12:04:00 AM
I had a buddy mention that he was adding more colors to a flemish twist string without having to do more than a twist of 2 strings.  Basically if I were making a 12 strand string I would take the first 6 strings and combine 2 or more colors.  On the first few strings I would use one color and then switch halfway through.  I couldn't forget to overlap where I transitioned by tying the end of one off and tying the new color on the nail before the tie off.  I hope that makes sense.  I'm glad I've got friends who can add a bit of wisdom every once in a while.

Here are the two strings I made with the new scheme and what the jig looked like with the overlapping.  When I make another tomorrow I'll throw up a picture of what it looks like in the process.  I'm sure most of y'all knew about this already but I found it amazing!

Hova: I've always done 12 strands for anything under 50# with B-50.

Here are a couple more pictures that might help explain what I'm doing.  I did the first four in black and the last 2 in red.  I overlapped on the string I switch colors.  (Also note: it's tougher to match string to string after the first 2 inches when you do the same colors  :D )
