Which Traditional bow do you like most, longbow, recurve, flatbow, horsebow etc...? I prefer the takedown recurve.
selfbow
ALL of em....
I have longbows, selfbows, a recurve, boo backed and unbacked, and a carbon D/R...Working on gettin myself a Hill Style stick built after this swap. But I just love to shoot them all.
I'm a longbow man, but I'm gettin' more and more into recurves as well lately.

dont really know yet just getting into it. I hope I make a shoot a bunch.
All of them
Savage!! If I have to try another kind of bow, I blame YOU!! ;)
My two go to bows have been a sinew backed osage static recurve and a glass recurve. I also have a bendy handled osage ambush bow that I shoot really well but I've yet to kill any big game with it.
all of them, with a lean towards longbows.
All, But I'm a Longbow man for sure.

Just trying to find out which is more popular, longbow or recurve. Seems there are more longbow fans out there than I imagined.
I've shot all, still have several special RDs and recurves and even an ILF, but all I've shot for the last two years are longbows. Note: I don't consider RD's longbows, in spite of the rules. They're shy recurves... :^)
I love all types of Trad Bows.
I started with recurves. Have been trying the r/d type longbows for the last few years and I really like them, much better than the older type longbows. Sorry Dick. That said I am finding a renewed interest in recurves again. So many bows to build so little time. Ain't it fun.
hybrid longbows
YES,,,, :bigsmyl:
i like all trad bows..but selfbows give me more satisfaction when i shoot them for the first time..i shoot all bows..i shoot almost every day for years and never get tired of them.. guess i'm hooked..john
My top pic is also the takedown recurve. Something about their look and feel. However, I enjoy shootinng any of them.
Hybrid longbows here too. With that great job you did on your first TD recurve Savage....building a TD riser and d/r limb set for a longbow should be no problem for you.....and as you're local I'll definitely be interested in your progress as you work towards that "perfect" design.
I also like all trad bows but especially selfbows made by friends and myself.

I agree with you there Dick..Must be the reason why they are quieter than any recurve I've built.
;)
I like them all and build them all. My go to is a mild R/D 62-64" but.. here's the two I finished this week.

The take down recurve,is the best all round bow.
Longbows R/D
hybrid longbow has my vote
Started out liking recurves the best. Guess I'm a selfbow guy now. I especially like shooting the shoot off your hand Indian-style bows.
I started shooting with a Bear recurve as a kid. I have glass recurves, glass longbows and glass hybrids. I find that I am most comfortable shooting glass hybrids overall. But I am making some pretty nice shooting all-wood Hill style bows as of late. I'm just not sure of how they will be long-term yet.
I love all types of Bows. Especially recurves and laminated wooden bows.

I like Hybrid Longbows and recurves, would love to try a horse bow if I had more pasture room.
James................
I like the traditional bows that kill stuff. But, if I had to choose one, a recurve is hard to beat.
Thanks for all the input guys!
I really like the Hybrid R/D longbow designs, selfbows or custom jobs doesn't matter, but I also really like my short Indian style shoot off the top knuckle flatbow I just made. It's really lots of fun to shoot, and I kinda surprized myself with that one. It's one of the coolest feelings to build something yourself that actually shoots accurately, and is a real joy to shoot. It will feel even sweeter when I finally take an animal with one of my own hand made bows.
Maybe this fall?
Those Holmegaards are the thing. I don't have one yet, but they look and shoot great. I may try to make on from all this new elm I have.
But you just can't go wrong with traditional. Any stick and a string will give me hours of fun.
