Wow, that is sweet. I love the snake skins, they really set the bow off above and beyond cool.
Great Job Keenan!
BTW- What is lincod? We evidently don't have those in Missouri.
Thanks Brock, everything just flowed together on that one.
Semo, Thank you. Lingcod is a bottom fish off the Pacific coast. Long bodies and big ugly heads. They can get up to about 6 feet and 30-40 lbs
One word... WOW!
Keenan, God bless and heal you Bro. That is an awsome job. If that bow shoots like it looks it will be fantastic. God Bless you , We'll have to get together and talk bows some day. steve
SWEET
Those Skins look incredible over the lincod! I've never seen a dye job do that to a pair of snake skins. Just WOW, Amazing work Keenan!
Yes beautiful work Keenan. Can't wait to see it bend. Mountain Mahogany huh? Amazing job. Danny
I am always awed at your bows,They inspire and please the eye. Great job. Get well soon.
Blessings and health.
Chuck
ps. Is the lingcod skin under the bullsnake skin?
Awsum!
Fantastic, love the skins, great job!!
Thanks Guys,
Two Tracks, Yes the snake is over the lingcod. The ling cod adds some protection and is real colorfull when fresh but loses some of the color when dried and can be fairly plain. I had always wanted to try this idea and I'm pleased with how it worked.
Keenan,
That is truely an awesome bow. I take it the ling cod darken the snake skin.
You for got to tell folks that ling cod is not only one of the ugliest, most agressive fish but is hands down one of the finest to be had on the table. Better than Halibut even.
Great Job. Semo See we could hit him on our way to Dicks Place. LOL
Again great JOB!
Kelly
awesome as usual Keenan. Your attention to detail makes yours bows a step above!
Thats another fine job as usual.
Shawn
I got to talk with Keenan yesterday for a bit and I can say he is a hands down great attribute to bow building. A real pleasure to talk to as well.\\
That is a sweet looking bow Keenan. You make some beauties for sure.
Stiks
Great looking bow, but it's too short for my draw length. It looks like it's all sapwood, does that work better than the heartwood? I have some mountain mahogany lumber I was going to use with bamboo backing.
Damn fine looking bow Keenan, of course we expect no less from ya eh:)

Oh yes definitely stop by Keenan's place! I'd like to watch him work, I could pick up some neat tricks and get it all on video!
Keenan, Your bows are always awesome!!!!
mr keenan, i haven't commented on this bow yet. its awesome. ive been a big fan of your work for some time now. i got to ask, is mt mahogany slang for juniper, cause thats what the core looks like to me. absolutely fabulouse backing. my freind and fellow tg member had some catfish skins and had wished he knew that i wanted to back a bow with some kind of skin. sir you have peaked my interest and im very intreaged. once again you have set a very high benchmark of acheivement and craftsmanship. ruddy
all i can say is WOW.i am going to build my first bows this year.your bows are truly an insiration.i hope i can make one half that nice.i am going down to the tenn classic for the first time this year to gain some knowlege.i hope it works out for me.thanks for the look, steve :notworthy:
Beautiful bow. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Guys, thank you for such kind compliments, This bow is actually a gift back to a close friend. Last spring, he heard I was going through some rough stuff, between my surgeries and family members as well. He built and sent me a beautiful bow to cheer me up. This is a thank you. :bigsmyl: To Blacktail. I just let the cat out of the bag. :bigsmyl:
Brooke, Not a juniper. It's a true mahoagny hard wood. Creamy sapwood and dark brown heart wood.
Sea bass. Hope to see you down at the Classic.
Semo, you and any fellow bowyers are welcome any day
I just had to come back for seconds. Just one beautiful bow. God Bless you, Steve
Thanks Steve, here is some info that a friend found for Mountain mahogany.
Mt Mahoghany (cercocarpus ) is a small tree/ bush that grows at higher elevations out west. The largest ones I have seen are about 8 inches in dia. I have seen it in eastern oregon, and all the way down to SW utah. I've made tool handles , foreshafts, and a boomerang out of it. Incredibly hard- s.g. is about .90 . hard to find a big enough piece for a bow- i searched a grove near glass butte for hours and came up with a piece about 45 inches long with knots all over. never seen it in WA.
hey keenan again it s really a neat bow you know im movin up on the idaho/utah border i been doin my homework fixin to go find some and greg in maland and i have been talkin he says theres a bunch of it where im goin well my qustion is do you know which speices it is ? im finding 6 or 8 diffrent kind s on the i d books ,, seems were more likley to have either the hairy or curly varity up there at 6 to 8000 ft but it will grow down to 4000 ft might have some on the ranch should be easey to id with the curly bud s on one and whitsh flowers on the other hope ur feelin better bro im leavin this weekend to move up there brock
