Title: Looking for a drawknife
Post by: H8nonCubs on January 21, 2011, 07:08:00 PM
Some of you may have seen on the bow swap thread that I broke my dk the other night :( tryin to find another to replace it. I've got a great long osage stave to trade for anyone who's got one that I'd be interested in.
Hopefully someone out there's got an extra layin around in need of a good home. I assure you it will definitely get used!

it looks like the blade has been added to the bar. i didnt know if it was just hammered that way , or if the handle bar was a milder steel , while the blade was a harder cabon steel.

I use one that was my grandfather's.  Don't know how old it is.  It's been in my garage as long as I can remember.  The garage was built in the 50's by my grandfather and alot of his old stuff is still in there.  I don't throw nothing away.  Never know when you gonna need something that been laying there for 50 years.LOL  The other day I was needin one of those old round fuses to get my 77 Honcho started.  I found one the garage in a brand new in-line fuse holder from the 70's.  It had been hanging the garage ever since I can remember but it got me on the road 40 years after it had been bought and hung up.  Crazy.

You can find fine draw knives at most big antique stores for $15-30. I have bought several while traveling in MO.

+1 on the antique shops.  Also look at estate auctions.
