Well, since I won two giveaways last week and I also lost my storage space, and because lots of guys are building on a budget this year heres what ima do. I have a piece of osage here in the shop, a grest piece for a beginner. I know we have a bunch of beginner bow builders in this year. Some have made a board bow, some glass, anyway... I want to give a stave out to someone that has never worked osage before that is in this years bow swap. So if you have never made a bow from a stave, or never had an osage stave, post your name here and I will draw a name on friday and ship you one for free! Remember to post pics along the way, and don't worry you will have plent of help here.

David, please put me in. I've made a few board
bows. And even tried an osage billet bow (billets from 3 rivers.) I would trully love a shot at an osage stave.
The folks on this site continue to amaze me.
Stan

OK, must have forgot about it in here, times flies ya know:)
Wow! Put my name in please, Mr. Generous.

CJ
put me in, but if I win, I'm definitely going to ask a lot of questions and need a lot of help on this one. I'd love the chance!
I suggest those who enter start read all the osage threads now! there are several running as we speak.
It doesn't grow down here. I'd love to give it a try.
I would love a chance at an osage stave! There is no osage trees around here and can't afford to purchase one. Thanks agian for the opportunity.
Gene, where abouts do you live in LA? There's lots of osage in the NW corner of LA, or so I've been told. Folks in SW Ark have osage. I just wish I knew some of those folks.
Stan
Red Hill I live in south western La. I am just North of interstate 10 on the Sabine River. If it grows here I don't know anyting about it, I own a band mill and had a tie mill before this. Guess I just never run across it. You must have a lots there in Ark, I reckon.
please add me to the list..never made a shooter but with everyones help on this board I might be able to this time...I dont even own a bow anymore but PV was kind enough to loan me a bow to shoot while I recoup..been going out in my wheelchair to shoot just to get out of the house to clear my head...thanks for the oppurtunity

Well I added all the names and let my little girl draw on from the hat. It took her a few pulls to come up with just on name. I'm sure we are going to have lots of questions from Hova. I think he might even have been doing some research on his own already. Hova, you won. Shoot me your address and sharpen your drawknife and scrapers. Remember we like pics here. Good luck.

just to clear up my confusion , is this for my personal bow , or for the swap , as you said it was only open to swappers. makes me think i will use it for my swap bow unless it comes in "accidently" underweight...
im most likely going to use this for the swap , as my recipient would love it , and it would make my swap bow a complete village project.
Sage from DVS
Tools from scifres
knowledge from everyone.
inspiration from kelly
thanks to stiks for the swap!
it takes a village to make a bow dark (get it , bodark!)
-hov
hova, my plan was for you to use it for the swap. It should push your limits, but in a good way.
thats what i was hoping. i couldnt very well receive somethin and keep it. it will be fun to see what kind of bow is inside there...
DVSHUNTER,
What did you mean you guess he was going to be asking a lot of questions? I think he is the only person who ask more than I and that is saying something? LOL
Hova,
Congratulations on the Osage. Maybe you will get a nice wide one or deep, where 2 bows might be hiding. If not it will give you some practice. I bet if you look around in Ohio you will find some hedge there. When you do It will most likely be a big ole tree.
Good luck on you Osage journey,
Kelly
i drive for my job a lot , my area is a 500 mile radius. i have yet to notice any in ohio , pa ,or wv... granted i havent been going long distances now that i have a jeep instead of a little vw golf , but you can bet i look (at least glance) at every tree i pass...
-hov
Hey congrats Hov! There's lots of hedge apple trees in Ohio. I always see them on fence rows and a lot on creek edges. Good luck with the stave. I can't wait for you to learn everything so you can teach me. Lol!
we'll have to get together this spring for some fly fishin. im itching to get out.
feel like doin some gold panning?
