Title: Overlay/Inlay buildalong?
Post by: camoman on January 13, 2011, 09:21:00 AM
Can someone do an Overlay/Inlay buildalong or do you know if one is out there already? I haven't seen one. I think both methods really add to the beauty of the bow and I would like to learn how to do it. Thanks.

Good idea. I have a bunch of old ivory keytops off of pianos. I'd like to inlay some for strike plates on selfbows.

Go to the "Building Directions" at my website.  It covers grip overlays.  Double click on the highlighted areas to pull up the pictures.

Camoman.    In regards to your post on Jan 13, 2011. There is a procedure written by "Dave Beeler" on (Stickbow.com) that shows how he inlays odd shaped medalians into bows. There is many fine pictures there. His post is dated Dec. 28, 2009. Also, there is a Bowyer in Europe that inlays veneers into bows. I believe he goes by the handle  "V-Archer".  Maybe he would give you information.       John
