Does anybody how to make your ones heads for stumpshooting?
if ur usin scew in points i just stic a washer behind it. glue ons i use a .357 shell
I just use field points for stump shooting with most of my arrows.
i made up a bunch of nutters. initially i used a pencil sharpener to get the taper so i could screw em on , but next time im going to drill an internal footing , then thread onto that. the taper on one arrow snapped off when i hit a rock , thats why im going to modify it a little...

i glue on a 357 case, then crossdrill through the case, and epoxy in a a short piece of high tensile smooth fencing wire, the type they use for electric fencing- makes an awesome judo type point.
i put the case and the wire onto my grain scale, and cut little tiny bits of lead with a pair of sidecutters, until i get to my desired weight, (125gr), put the lead in the case, and stand the case on one of my wifes electric stove plates ( when she is at work!!!!!!!!!)
the lead melts real quick, take the HOT case off and stand it on a scrap of wood, until cool.
glue to the shaft, then cross drill and epoxy the wire.
works really well.

Here are a couple of other "target" points I use with hardwood shoot arrows and cane arrows. For shoot arrows I used this strip of steel that was rounded/tapered for the point end. I mount these just like a trade point. For the cane, a 16d common nail with a blob of brasing added to the head and turned to a conical shape. It is inserted into the void in the center of the cane and glued in. I think I used TBIII to glue both types of heads in. I then use a wrap or two to secure it. Both types are very tough and fly very well.
