Recently completed a Red oak board bow that turned out to be around 64# at my draw length of 31.5".
I was wondering if this amount of poundage is expecting to much from a red oak bow?
how wide and thick was it? what style?

Man! Thats cool, long drawlength,,I think thats alot of weight.
Bow is 2 1/2" wide at the fades tapered to 1/2" at the tips, 9/16" Thick.
Pyramid style
That seems pretty heavy for red oak but it sounds like you made it plenty wide enough. How much set did it take?
It took 1 1/2" set
Did you back it??
Wow. Thats not bad at all. Lets see some pics.
No Ricky I didnt, the board I found had real straight grain. This is the first bow that I felt pretty confident without a backing (I hope).
I posted pics on 4est thread "so you want to build a bow".
Yeah! I saw that one, didnt connect,,, I aint the brightest crayon in the box anyway,,, Thats nice! The one I built going by that thread I backed with a snakeskin,Dont know the weight, didnt have my scale yet,but I know its not as strong as yours. Good job!
Mine & many others have ended up 50#+ at 28". As long as it's tillered even, your # relative to draw length seems pretty standard. No need to worry.
