Title: New Guy, wanting to get back into Traditional Hunting
Post by: 1oldbowguy on January 01, 2011, 07:49:00 PM
:help:   I am not sure if this is the best place to post this but I need help. Hello, I am new to the site but have been bow hunting for over 40 years now. I am wanting to get back into traditional archery again. One question I have is I am wanting to build a bow and hunt next season with it. Can anyone out there help me find someone in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area or in Arkansas, who can help me out?   I am willing to drive to meet up with anyone who may be able to help me out. Thanks in advance for any help.    ;)

:wavey:    okie64, I know where Muldrow is and it is about 2 hours or so, not real bad.  I would like set a meeting some time soon and talk.  I am thinkin  about starting a pyramid bow maybe this weekend.  I am thinking about white oak over red oak, what do you think?  Maybe walnut for the tips and handle?    :dunno:

Everything I've heard says that white oak works very well and won't take much set at all, while you can expect red to take as much as 2" even with a perfect tiller.  So...white would be a great choice, and I think walnut always looks good.  Just make sure you post lots of pictures!
