Considering making another reflex/deflex oak longbow. I used fiberglass last time on the back and belly, but didn't care for it. Any thoughts on using cedar as a backing on oak instead and no fiberglass at all? Cedar being a soft wood shouldn't create a compression problem for the belly would it? Thanks
Cedar isn't ging to work for a backing. Get you a good piece of hickory for best results..............Art
arts totaly right forget ceader for backin use hickory or white oak brock
...or elm or ash, but not cedar!
Where I'm at in Fla., ash, elm and hickory is not readily available. If I use oak, are you suggesting I apply elm, ash or hickory as backing?
If so, wouldn't that increase the compression on the belly?
what i was sayin bro any of those will work id go with hickory u can get all the hickory backing ya need just get on mike yancys pinehollow long bow site or even 3 rivers sells it youll be fine there with elm or hiclory or ash kinda thought a oak on oak would be neat sorta like a lot of guys do hickory backed hickory good luck brock
Thanks
