Title: what glue to use?
Post by: sub-zero on December 15, 2010, 12:10:00 PM
I am getting ready to start my BBO gemsbok belly bow. I have already got some great advice from people on here and STB thanks a lot. I am making the core with a splice osage board . What glue would be best to do bamboo, horn and the splice joint? Every thing is cut and ready for glue up.  Thanks Tony

Hide glue was traditionally used for horn bellies but I believe Smooth-ON would work fine also.
I have the components to build an asiatic horn bow and will be using hide glue. I also want to build a Native American horn bow and will probably use hide glue for it also.
Check with Mike Westvang. He built a few horn bellied bows over the last couple of years.
