No disrespect against some of the a fore mentioned builders, but make your own you will be self   sufficient from there out, just a learning curve.

I second the make your own.  It is fun and addicting.  Although I would love to own an Ed Scott bow.

How much would it cost to get the tools required to do it myself?

Also I would need to check the avalibility of Osage in Australia.

Cheers Ari

Raptor Archery.  If its your first I would own and shoot one of his bows then decide what you will build.  Either way, call him (Ted Fry) before doing anything.

Dryad bows or Genesis Selfbows.  Dryad is a sponsor and makes great bows in either fiberglass, or natural.  Genesis Selfbows has been around since before Tradgang started.  J. D. Jones owns Genesis.  Look up some of his tutorials.

Cheapest way for you all around is probably to buy a blank from Gary Davis, Rattlestick bow blanks.  They are almost done when you get them, you finish them.

I only build a few bows a year.Mosty for friends or myself but after 20 years word of mouth gets around.Cuts into my buck hunting. And spring gobbler hunt also so it's only late winter and summer for me.
So I agree with some of the others buy and osage stave and build your own.I'm sure there's some kind of wood there to build a bow or two for the exspence untill your osage stave shows up.
Plus it will mean so much more to you then.I know 20 years ago it did it for me it did.And when you kill your first animal with it.You've just did what few people will ever do.
BUILD YOUR OWN you won't regret it.

Once again try Gary Davis Rattlestik bows for DVD.  Haven't seen the DVD but have seen Gary teach over 30 people in person, he knows his stuff and is a great teacher so I expect his DVD to be very good.

George Tsoukalas' website has everything you need to know about building wood bows from staves to boards as well as strings, arrows, etc. Can't go wrong there...and it is free.

Hmm this SITE and it is interactive. If you find a build a long or how too, you like but have question you simply PM the author. Plus you make your own build along and get more advise and can muddle along with Hova and I.
