Title: My son's first bow build
Post by: dposalski on November 28, 2010, 09:51:00 PM
I have built 2 or 3 bows myself.  I started with a red oak board bow and gave that to my son 3 years ago.  When he pulled it out, he wanted to name it.  I told him that he can only name a bow that he builds himself.    He is 12 now and I found a nice board at HD of hickory.  It was actually a piece for gaps in cabinets.  It was dinged up and had marks so got them to drop the price to $10.  We just cut out his bow from it.  It is 60" and 1.5 inches wide.  He wants a static handle, so we will find some wood to glue on.  I am shooting for 35#@23 which is his draw length.

I am anxious to see what he names it.

Dposalski, I've gotten several of my students involved in making their own bows. I didn't think about naming their bows... That'll be fun. Some of these kids have wild imaginations.
I know you and your son will have a lot of fun.
Good luck,
Stan
