I appologise if this is a topic that has been beaten to death repeatedly in the forum. I have access to some decent osage. If I can find a good 6 foot piece of clear osage, will it make a decent english style longbow?
JLW - I HAVE MADE FIVE ELB. FROM OSAGE; EACH SEEMS TO SHOOT BETTER'N THE LAST - - IT'S GREAT! GO FOR IT.
SOUROWL
I've made a few osage ELBs all with good results.
I love Osage....... Yes it will do the job.
Thanks. Back to the trad bowyers bible and then to work. I expect I will do several before getting a real keeper.
Take it slow and easy. ELBs have a trndency to want to bend to the side if you don't tiller each limb evenly.
Here is an osage ELB that Joe Don Jones made for me. It is made from a single stave, 68", 60# @ 28", horn tip overlays. It is a honey to shoot.
