Title: Dust collect hoses
Post by: recurvericky on November 22, 2010, 07:14:00 PM
Other than buying actual dust collection hose for a system, is their anything else that will work? This is the hose that goes from the actual ducting to the tool.

I have been wondering the same thing.  I have looked at the 3" RV sewer hose at wallyworld.  Price is pretty good surely it could be adapted it the correct size.

I've been using 4" drain tile like they use on terraces. It is stiffer than the dust collection hoses from Grizzly, but works the same. I bought ends that will fit inside the 4" sewer pipe I put around the wall with gates at each machine.

You have to ductape the joints for best results....

Kenny is right about sealing the joints. I have a 2hp system with only hose clamps at the joints. I can really hear the wind whistling from all the leaks but the big system makes up for the leaks.

I was looking for something a little more flexible than drain pipe. Would a dryer hose work or is it not strong enough to take the suction that is produced? I had planned on sealing all the joints and will probably do it with duct tape.

A standard dryer hose would probably collapse.  I once tried some 1 1/2 drainage hose, and the suction made a howling sound that drove my dog crazy!
