Title: help please
Post by: stinger2 on November 09, 2010, 02:45:00 PM
I have a hickory bow i built for my girlfriend that is 63" ntn 25# @27", it has what looks like little splinters along the entire length of the belly of the lower limb. they are not sharp but I know i sanded it smooth before she started shooting it, it feels rough now. what can cause it to have little pieces of raised wood along the belly of one limb?

Have you put a finish on it, Stinger? I don't know that it would make a difference, just curious.
Are the splinters "fuzzy" or more substantial than that?

I have not put a finish on it yet and they are a little more substantial than a fuzz. I just noticed that they are releasing where the grain runs off the belly where the grain end gets really thin.
