I ordered some phonlic and Dynaflight 97 from 3 Rivers yesterday. I am going to try it on two of my self bows. What glue has everyone found to work best on phonlic to phonlic and phonlic to wood. Thanks, Don
I used smooth on for phenolic to wood, and superglue for phenolic to glass. Never glued phenolic to phenolic, but I image EITHER superglue OR smooth on would work fine.
I usually glue to glass, but CA or smoothon will work. I've used CA on phen/phen joints also.
I guess I do put wood overlays over phen with CA sometimes....
I have glued phenol to glass, phenol to phenol and wood to phenol with superglue and it worked perfect.

BTW, when I said "superglue" I was referring to CA.
Gorilla High Impact Super Glue.God bless you and good luck. Steve
Thanks guys, I will use some CA. Don
I agree with Sixby, gorilla high impact
Just glued up a couple of new risers earlier this morning. My bows have a 1/4" of phenolic reinforcment in the riser, but I had some 1/8" stuff and some 1/16" stuff. I glued some phenolic together to get a total of 1/4" on one (2 strips of 1/16" and 1 strip of 1/8") and 5/16" on another (2 strips 1/8" and 1 strip 1/16"). I am sure it will work fine with the smooth on, but I do rough the surface up on all the strips with some sanding to get rid of the factory slick finished surfaces. I will post pictures of them when I take them out this afternoon.
Just glued up and cleaned up. The way I cut my riser I don't need the pieces to be the same length. The belly sections here are over 12" long, and I will only need about 9" or so. The long pieces are over 24" long. Once I get done shaping the risers, the knots you see in the canary wood won't be in the remaining portion that goes in the bow.
1st...Canary wood fadeout area, two 1/16" tan phenolic strips, one 1/8" black phenolic strips, and then purple heart on the palm of riser. Phenolic is glued direct to phenolic for a total of 1/4."

2nd...Purpleheart fadeout section, two 1/8" black phenolic strips, one 1/16" tan phenolic strip, and canary wood on palm of riser. Again, phenolic glued direct to phenolic but this time achieving a total of 5/16."

My purpose for doing this is my bows are going to all have 1/4+" phenolic reinforcement, which will simply be one strip that is 1/4" thick, but I wanted to test gluing some thinner strips together to see if I liked the "outline" appearance of using 3 strips together.
Here is one I did that has just a single 1/4" strip.
