I see all the post about the strings on here.
What, if any, are the benefits of a home made flemish string?
I have been buying the standard black strings from the archery shop for the bows I build.
Will the flemish string be a larger diameter? Does it shoot any better?
Thanks
Customization is the reason I twist 'em up. I can make whatever length I want with the number of strands I want and in the color(s) I want. (geez, I sound kinda picky!) :)
Yeah, colors is the big reason I was thinking of going this route... but am worried that if they are much fatter than standard string, I will have to redo all the knocks on my arrows.
Bradford, there's no difference in the diameter of the strings. No worry there.
Cool.. that was my main concern. Thanks for the input.
Guess I need to make the string board and start buying some special thread.
No string board needed... Measure out your length needed, add 10" (for the loops) then make each progressive strand 1/4" longer on each end (to taper the splice) then commence "the twist". :)
I've been using B-50 with good results. It is waxed and pretty cheap in the 1/4# rolls.
