I got the plans for this bow from Brad- thanks bud-
So here is the question-the bow is done except for waiting for the finish to dry- do you all want to see pictures of the build or just the finished bow?

I would say both
i want to see every pic you got of all of it....that form is crazy looking
I want pictures ! The more the better.

Pictures, Pictures,Pictures, and maybe some more Pictures.
OK here is what it is. The plans are a copy of a herters 46"er. Brad was kind enough to share his plans and as a reference posted a build along earlier this year. This bow is tiny!!

Went with a piece of tigetwood for the riser-

Brown glass, boo and actionwood for the core-

The first big test was getting everything into the form with bow snot on it- could have used more hands for this part- but got it into the form and cooking.

Out and ready for some cleanup.

my god that is an intense form. can't wait to see the rest of it
Cut the string groves and had to see if I could keep a string on it. No major limb twist going on- after pull it a few times I thought it was going to be in the high 40#'s.

So far so good- now for the rest of the overlays.
Should have made a jig for the riser overlays- putting them on turned into another bow snot rodeo but it ended up working.
After plenty of grinding and shaping I made a string for it and took it outside to see how it shot.

Man does it ever fling the arrows, no hand shock and smooth drawing- I still thought it was pulling in the high 40's- so I put it on my scale:
55#@28"
It still needs some more finish but this will give you an idea of what it will look like.

It didn't have alot of finger pinch at 28"s and you are right hova- that is the high 40's. The first time I put it on the scale before rounding over the limbs it was right at 60#s- I couldn't believe it because of how it felt. I was wanting 55#s and that is where it finished- sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.
Awesome job, Trux ! That's a nice little bastard.

Very beautiful. I am wanting to learn to build badly. Need a new hobby to pass the time when I can't hunt. You going to build anymore this size? I like the shorties!
I love this bow profile and your riser looks outstanding. These little bows shoot so much better than you would ever think. Great job!

I will build another one since this one is going to end up in the hands of a buddy of mine.
Brad you are right about how they shoot- very spot on and stable for a shortie.
Would it be possible to get the plans?
I love this little shooters! real awesome stuff!
i second with blue tick:
would it be possible to get the plans?
greets,
Herm
Impressive!
Gentleman who would like the plans, send me your email in a PM. Of course you must post pics of your build or finished bow.
One more question Trux....did you use ULS glass (glass with scrim that is). I am assuming so as I don't think Gordon's makes brown glass without scrim.
Thanks
Yes Brad that's what I used. thanks again for the plans.
i like it a lot, but that is one crazy lookin profile at full draw.
Nice job, sweet looking little bow.
David that little bow is just crazy neat. I have not been impressed by any short bow I have ever seen until now. I really like it. God Bless you and great job. Cool choice of woods too , one of my favorites.
David, very nice bow. Do you know when the build-a-long was that Brad did on this bow?
Bob T.

Thanks Guys. Bob if you do a search for Herters it will come up- Brads build was in April 2010.
