Well this is what I had- some green actionwood for the limbs. I pondered what to use for the riser (woods I had on hand) so I decided to use some maple and dye it green. Knowing how maple takes stain (not all that great) I figured this one would qualify for the "ugly bow" contest. This gives you an idea of what the limbs look like.

Once I had it glued up and shaped I really struggled with taking the next step and dying all the maple green- the green limbs and light colored riser came out pretty sharp looking.

But I stuck with my original idea and stained it. The stain took as expected-splotchy- but it matched the limb color pretty well and it finished 62"ntn 55#@28" and a very nice shooting bow- still has plenty of ugly going for it-my buddy says it looks like an all business bow- my son calls it the green monster.

I love the green vintage bows. This a nice twist on a vintage color. Beautiful! I say.

Kenny- I had a total stack of 360- I used 40 glass on both sides- it has both a tip wedge and p-lam in it.
Good one Jess! I may call it that if it has the mojo.
Very nice Trux...What kind of stain did you use...Fieblings leather dye?
I mixed up some dark green rit dye with denatured alcohol- worked pretty well with mutiple coats.
I think it's a great looking bow! Love the lines and design of the bow as well...excellent!!
Looks fine to me.
I am getting a different taste and like the "plane jane hunting" ones.
Looks all business.

Thanks for the kind words- This one has really grown on me and I like the looks and the performance- I don't think the ugly will be too much for me to handle.lol
Wish I could make a bow that ugly.
I'm going with green and black stain my next bow, If it comes half that ugly I'll be thrilled!
:clapper:
Trux, that green monster is absolutely awesome ! A very fine bow with a look that is a little different of what we see usually. Love it !

I don't think the bow is ugly at all - looks good! Nice job.
You need to keep on building those ugly bows cause we all seem to like it.
