Title: First long bow finished!!!
Post by: StrykerX_X on August 29, 2010, 06:17:00 PM
I just finished my first bow its a red oak long bow with a solid oak riser and a birch backing. Finished of with golden oak danish oil & howards feed'n wax bees wax. The grip and all the leather is deer hide. Im am really happy how it turned out besides my poor choice of using birch backing wich started to pop up in places.

It measursed #40 26''

Thanks! It actually shoots pretty good, i was impressed with it!  Do you have any idea why the birch backing started to crack/splinter up in areas of the upper and lower limb. The core red oak its self isn't stressed at all?
