Title: KennyM limb profile
Post by: Dwillo on August 23, 2010, 08:07:00 PM
I have a question for those who have built bows off of KennyM's form design. I seem to have misplaced the instructions he sent me. Can someone remind me how far past the fades to start the limb taper? I sort of remember 2" but not sure. Thanks for any help.   Dan

Was there a limb profile?
I took mine out of the box and have NO limb profile.
The write op says 1 1/2 wide down to 1/2 tips.
No mention of fads on mine.
I hope other chime in and get us straight.

I hope I'm not getting confused with Bingham's design, although that's entirely possible. So, did you start your taper where the fade ends and bring it to the tips?

Kenny told me to start 13-14 inches from center, then when sanding it should end up arround 2 inches from end of fades.

I just told Tim something different! 3" past fades(or 12" from center), then blend it when sanding.  :o   Guess I'll have to go look at my stuff in shop. May be tomorrow before I get there.

Man, I have to get some real plans done up on paper!  :)

The last bow I made I drew out the taper 2" from the fades (on a 18.5" riser)...after it is all said and done I blend it in so essentially it is a nice smooth taper all the way down.  Once you get your bow on the tiller tree you'll see what you need to do and it will turn out great.

Thanks Brad and Kenny. It sounds like 2-3" to start will work out fine. I can always adjust it closer to the fades if needed.

Kenny, don't worry about finding the info, just get your stuff ready to come out to Colorado. The weather has been pretty warm with some afternoon rain so don't forget the mosquito repellent. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

Thanks for all the replies.
