I have this hickory bow that the tiller is way off. I was wondering if somone out there would be able to save it. it is 70" so it could be shortened to keep the weight up. the shelf is also not finished right. Iam willing to pay for shiping and work done. Thanks
Is that an all wood bow or a glass and wood bow?
The top limb if its to the left in the pic is definately stiffer.
What kind of weight does it pull at 28inches?

The bow is solid hickory with a piece of cherry glued on for a grip 55# @ 28
In the pic it looks like the bow is bending on the bttm limb just down from the handle. To get the bttm limb bending correctly the upper limb will have to be less. That way the bttom limb will not have as much bending stress on it. Once you get the top limb less of wood the bttm limb will need to have the limb reduced beyond the area that is bending most, the areas just down from the handle. What you will be doing is taking wood off the top limb to allow you to tiller the bttm limb correctly. You may be taking 15-20# off your bow. If you cut off 3" off each end you may get a 45# bow. Your ntn length would be 64" which is okay for Hickory at low draw weights. Or, you can also steam a static recurve into the tips and get you another 5#. A 50# Hickory at 64 " ntn is not a bad bow to shoot. God bless.
